## [Animating the City at Riverside Studios London](https://animate.org.uk/editorial/2006/06/animating-the-city-at-riverside-studios-london/)

**Thursday 22 June 2006 21:00**

animate! presents a dynamic, diverting, sometimes disturbing but always hugely imaginative exploration of urban lives and locales. Nine wide-ranging films in this programme, selected from the ever-expanding catalogue of animate! commissions, reveal fresh perspectives of the city:

[13](https://animate.org.uk/films/13/) by Simon Faithfull, [Black, White & Green](https://animate.org.uk/films/blackwhiteandgreen/) by Ian Bourn, [Dad’s Dead](https://animate.org.uk/films/dadsdead/) by Chris Shepherd, [Ferment](https://animate.org.uk/films/ferment/) by Ian Macmillan, [Flight](https://animate.org.uk/films/flight/) by Dryden Goodwin, [The Nuclear Train](https://animate.org.uk/films/nucleartrain/) by Daniel Saul, [Soho Square](https://animate.org.uk/films/sohosquare/) by Mario Cavalli, [Stressed](https://animate.org.uk/films/stressed/) by Karen Kelly and [What She Wants](https://animate.org.uk/films/whatshewants/) by Ruth Lingford.

*Animating the City* is preceded at 18:30 in this Riverside animation double bill by Jan Svankmajer’s feature [Little Otick](http://www.illumin.co.uk/svank/films/otesanek/otesanek.html). A darkly witty and unsettling fable of sinister woodland incursions into the city from the master Czech Surrealist. Mixing animation and live-action, this is a uniquely outrageous vision.
